Alista Cutuaem, start of its Fifth Season, will include two classics

The play that begins this new season of Cutuaem is “In the kitchen and in war nothing is fixed” by the theatrical group ArteFicción with dramaturgy and direction by Eliasib Harim; which will be presented in season from Thursday, September 2 until October 23, with performances from Thursday to Saturday at five in the afternoon, taking place at the Esvón Gamaliel University Chamber Theater. The entrance will cost one hundred pesos.

On September 4, the play “Edipo Rey” by the Argonautas Teatro group will premiere. The staging directed by Edgar Huitrón Martínez is an adaptation of the work of Sophocles, considered one of the great Greek classics. Their performances will only be Saturdays and Sundays at one in the afternoon from September 4 to October 31 at the Los Jaguares University Theater. Access has a cost of one hundred pesos.

The Suspiro Teatro group will present “There is a place in some corner of the world” by the writer and director Israel Ríos. The performances will be on Mondays and Tuesdays at seven in the afternoon at the Esvón Gamaliel University Chamber Theater from September 6 to October 26 with general admission of 60 pesos.

“Macbeth” by William Shakespeare is another of the great classics of literature that will be presented in this Fifth Season of the University Theater Company. The director of this play, Francisco Cotero, explained in an interview for Así Sucede, that the montage is the first academic project of the theater group “Sin Vía Teatro” in which students of the Theater Arts degree from the Autonomous State University collaborate from Mexico. In addition, he recalled that there are some beliefs around this Shakespeare play.

Let’s say there are a lot of superstitions surrounding Macbeth’s work. It is believed, for example, that when the audience entering the theater cannot mention the name of the play until they leave the theater to avoid some accidents that may occur. Also, for example, in the theater it is thought that this name, Macbeth, cannot be mentioned three times in a row, precisely because it attracts bad luck and misfortune. Another curious fact about the play, in the story play three witches appear who are making spells all the time and spells attracting evil and it is said that William Shakespeare instead of performing these spells in a fictitious way used real spells and that is why this work is loaded with all these superstitions around it ”; Francisco Cotero pointed out.

The Macbeth director assured that the creative team is made up of professional people such as Edgar Mora, in charge of the scenic design and lighting; Ricardo García Luna is the costume designer; the sound design is in charge of Yurev Vivero. While, the stage combat choreographies are directed by Arturo Camargo and the graphic design is by Jesús Mendiola.

“Macbeth” will be in season from September 6 to October 27 with performances on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at five in the afternoon at the Los Jaguares University Theater. Because it is a student project, access to any function is 30 pesos.

At a press conference, Juan Carlos Embriz, director of the University Theater Company, reported that in the coming weeks two more plays will be added to the Cutuaem billboard. The first is “La Caída, a temple on my ruins”, a work that takes up the Great Fall of Tenochtitlán from September 9 to October 24 from Thursday to Saturday at five o’clock and Sundays at four o’clock in the afternoon. And the second is “Chocolate Independencia” that is presented every year in the framework of national celebrations. This work will be on the billboard from September 9 to 26 from Thursday to Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 6:00 p.m.

The director of Cutuaem also announced that towards the end of October the season of “Pantheon of love” will begin, which will have only seven functions and will be presented on the occasion of the Day of the Dead.
