She offered herself the most beautiful classic, Paris-Roubaix, at the end of an improbable scenario. Escaping for 116 kilometers in a small group reduced to six in the final, the Canadian gave a lot to prevent the return of the favorites and then win the sprint on the Roubais velodrome. Until now, she had never won at this level and never even scored the slightest top 10 on a Monument, only thirteenth in Paris-Roubaix a year earlier. At 34, she also made an impression with her personality, her dance steps after the line, her bursts of laughter when recounting her race or her way of describing the stone she received as a trophy like a simple “pebble”. A few weeks later, still on cloud nine, she brought home her first two medals during the Pan American Championships, silver in the road race and bronze in the time trial.
