Good news for TV presenter Alina Merkau: The 34-year-old confirmed her second pregnancy on Instagram on Monday evening with a recent photo of her round baby bump.
Merkau is turned to the side in the photo in front of a gray wall. She holds her stomach in her hands and looks supposedly shocked. “Oh hi”, it says in the description of the post. To do this, the “Sat.1 Breakfast TV” presenter uses an angel emoji and a heart – to the delight of her around 218,000 followers. For example, radio colleague Simon Beeck writes: “How nice for you three … uh … four.” Other acquaintances and friends, including Motsi Mabuse and Vanessa Blumhagen, as well as fans share their congratulations via the comment function.

In addition to “love”, “family” and “babyontheway”, the photo also features the hashtag “roundtwo”. For the 34-year-old, it is the second pregnancy after the birth of their first daughter Rosa in August 2016. The announcement for baby number one came on February 24th – almost exactly five years ago. Merkau has been together with husband Rael Hofmann for eight years, and the two have been married since 2018.
The 34-year-old has been in front of the camera for over 20 years, and since 2014 she has been moderating “Sat.1 Breakfast TV” alongside Matthias Killing.

In the show, too, the colleagues are happy about the news on Tuesday. But they can’t get more information out of Merkau: The announcement of the name of their second child is still a long time coming. Although the moderator has a selection of suggestions, the gender of the baby is not yet known. “The main thing is that it is healthy,” she explains.
