Alina Churikova from ‘De Mol’: ‘We are finally Belgians’

Alina Churikovav, last year participated in The mole, has acquired Belgian nationality after 21 years and 2 days. She writes that on Instagram.

22 years ago, Alina, who last year participated in The mole and took the role of saboteur in it, born in Kazakhstan. A few months after her birth, her family moved to Germany, before arriving in Belgium. They applied for asylum here on 20 April 2000. Now she and her mother have officially acquired Belgian nationality.

’21 years and 2 days. That’s how long it took. We are finally Belgians, the proudest of them all,” writes Alina on Instagram. She writes words of praise for her mother. ‘Dear Mamma, thou darn beautiful madam. This is your credit. I am so proud every time I can say “my” mom. Being Belgian suits you so well…’

In addition, the new Belgian also addresses her ‘dear friends, family and sweetheart’. ‘Thank you for showing us the meaning of ‘unconditionally’. We love to see you. Let this be an ode to all the people who flee, immigrate, emigrate, have no papers, have no home,… Anyone who loses hope: my mom and I have it for you.’

Alina was the youngest mole ever last year. In the program she said that she and her mother had been illegally living in Belgium for sixteen years. In the meantime, they already had a Belgian passport.
