Alicja Konieczek with a Polish record in Paris. “See you in the city”

There is a new wave of Polish girls on obstacles – Alicja Konieczek began her conversation with journalists. The new national record holder added “we’re going further”.

The girls motivated me. I saw that there were two personal bests, so I ran for the national record. The race was clearly for me, but there were still 2-3 seconds to spare today – assessed the finalist of the games.
According to the national record holder, the record had to be taken because “my legs were giving me strength”, and you never know what will happen in two days in the final.

The atmosphere was incredible, it certainly helped, but I didn’t focus on that. I believed in this Polish record, but I grabbed my head at the finish line because I thought: finally. I did it. I’m proud of myself. I trained for fifteen years to be in this place – she admitted.

Her sister Aneta added that Alicja had been talking about this record non-stop for weeks. It’s good that she finally did it, she joked.

Alicja admitted that she doesn’t know the taste of the record yet, because she’s improving it for the first time. The point is to go to the event and do personal bests. In two days, anything can happen. Obstacles are obstacles. The final in two days is the worst date, because I’d prefer tomorrow or in three days. However, we all have the same – said the Polish record holder.

Alicja Konieczek emphasized that the final will be in the evening, and she will “shoot four espressos”. Then I will be carried away – she noted.

Her sister and Kinga Królik were also pleased with their performances. I know I can do even more, but in my series even 9.11 would not get me to the finals – said Aneta.

Królik wasn’t sure about competing in the Olympics for a long time. When I finally found out I was going, I cried with joy. I improved my personal best by five seconds. I have bigger ambitions, though, she added.

Aneta Konieczek admitted that the crowd of fans in the stands during the morning session sent shivers down her spine. It’s great here – she summed up. On Tuesday, she will be cheering on her sister from the stands. Their lively mutual support has been a hallmark of the Polish team for years.

See you in town, team – the new Polish record holder said as she left the mixed zone. She was clearly in a good mood.

The medal competition in this event is scheduled for Tuesday.
