Alicante will have a circular bus line along Gran Vía to connect Orihuela avenue with Denia avenue | Radio Alicante | Present

The City Council will create a circular line through Gran Vía to connect Orihuela avenues with Denia avenues every day of the year, without having to go through the city center. It is one of the allegations that were presented to the Public Transportation Service Project that has been admitted, as confirmed this Monday by municipal technicians in the control commission of the future contract.

Specifically, of the 312 allegations presented, 59 have been accepted in their entirety and another 43 in part. In addition to the creation of this circular line on Gran Vía, the on-demand taxi service will be expanded for rural departures, not being only restricted to residents in Alicante, but it will have a universal character.

The mayor of the area, Manuel Villar, also highlights the doubling of the 13N night line, which runs from Villafranqueza to Plaza del Mar. In winter it will reach Plaza de la Luna, in the La Florida neighborhood, and in summer it will be extended by San Gabriel to Urbanova.

And the criteria for the purchase of new vehicles will be modified so that, following the new regulations in this regard, they are sustainable. Specifically, of the 73 new buses that are planned to be purchased during the future contract, 41 will be electric.

These are some of the main allegations accepted by municipal technicians to include in the Public Transportation Service Project, whose final approval will be taken to the Local Government Board this Tuesday.

Insufficient for the opposition

Meanwhile, from the opposition, although they show their satisfaction with the improvements made to the text, they believe that they are insufficient to achieve “the efficient, modern and appropriate service for the 21st century” that Alicante needs.

Compromís spokesman, Natxo Bellido, also criticizes the fact that the documentation on the allegations has not been provided to them in order to carry out a real assessment of the document.

For its part, from the PSOE they congratulate themselves because their allegations about the maintenance of circular lines and the purchase of new sustainable vehicles have been accepted.
