Alicante to be the setting for Paraso, a new Movistar + series

The province of Alicante has been chosen stage main of Paradise, the New serie original Movistar +, whose filming has just started in the Valencian town of Requena and will shortly move to the Alicante coast, as reported by the production.

The series is produced by Movistar + in collaboration with Globomedia (The Mediapro Studio), under the direction of Fernando González Molina (Palm trees in the snow, Three meters above the sky or I desire you) and starring Macarena García, winner of a Goya for Best Upcoming Actress for Snow White.

Paradise is a genre series, with elements of adventure and mystery, set in Spain in 1992, created by Gonzalez Molina himself, together with Ruth García (The Incident, The Protected, The Boarding School, Paco’s Men) and David Oliva (The Incident, The Protected, Paco’s Men, The Serrano).

The fiction will consist of seven episodes, 50 minutes long, and has a cast in which the aforementioned Macarena García, Iñaki Ardanaz (Victim number eight), and Gorka Otxoa (Pantafantas Faith of Etarras, Down There), in the main adult characters, who are accompanied by the young interpreters in charge of giving life to the protagonists: Pau Gimeno (Billy Elliot), Cristian López (The Lion King, Billy Elliot), Leon Martínez (Merlí, Superlópez), Héctor Gozalbo (Nothing will be the same), María Romanillos (Riot gear, The consequences), and Patricia Iserte.

Paradise it is an ambitious production “in which suspense and adventure go hand in hand with emotion and mystery”, according to Movistar +.

The series revolves around the investigation undertaken by a group of young people after the disappearance of three girls from your environment. In the midst of the transition from adolescence to adulthood, the protagonists go through a moment of uncertainty and emotions, where everything is experienced for the first time and feelings such as loneliness, loss, love and friendship appear. A journey towards maturity, which will also appeal to the nostalgia of the spectators through the setting of the Spain of the year 1992.

In the words of its director and creator, Fernando González Molina, fiction “is born from our illusion to tell a fantastic story that connects with the references of our adolescence: Spielberg’s cinema, the series V, but also Blue summer or Companions. And connect them with the stories that I liked to tell in the cinema: epic, emotional stories that seek above all the enjoyment of the spectator ». He adds that «Paradise It is a trip to the cinema of entertainment that we were passionate about and made us dedicate ourselves to this, but also a story about the loss and difficulty of being a teenager when you are different ».

González Molina (Pamplona, ​​1975) has participated in the direction of series such as Paco’s men (2009), Boat (2011), Moon, the mystery of Calenda (2013), Welcome to Lolita (2014) or The other look (2018). This latest series, set in the 1920s, deals with the essence of feminism of the time and Macarena García is one of the main actresses.

The history

The Serie Paradise It is set in 1992, at the end of summer in a town on the coast of the Valencian Community. Sandra, Eva and Malena, 15, disappear in a disco without a trace. The police don’t seem to be looking in the right direction, so Javi, Sandra’s younger brother, begins an investigation alongside Quino and Álvaro, her best friends, and Zeta, the bully from the class.
