The families with small children who arrived last Tuesday in a boat to the coast of Alicante will be transferred to the Community of Madrid after the order received this Wednesday from the Government. Alicante Red Cross has taken over this coordination of places in state centers, but which is managed by the humanitarian entity itself, as confirmed by Radio Alicante.
Finally, there are nine, and not 11 as was initially reported, the minors who arrived with their families of Syrian and Algerian nationality and are between seven months and 12 years old. Now, given the situation of special vulnerability of these people, the State continues its assistance through authorized organizations. In one of the boats, they remember from the NGO, a couple was traveling, she eight months pregnant, with their five children.
What future awaits these families?
Consulted by Radio Alicante, from the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR) they explain that these families have the possibility of requesting asylum, like any immigrant person. However, their coordinator in Alicante, Laura González, recalls that doing so “is not a guarantee” that these families will not finally be deported and recalls that 95% of the requests are denied.

If the asylum application is accepted, these families usually enter the state reception program, CEAR recalls, which addresses their situation from a multidisciplinary perspective.
