Alicante Ranks as Top Spanish City for Tourists in July, According to Jetcost.es Study

ALICANTE. Alicante once again appears in the top positions in another report on tourism prospects. Specifically, a new study prepared by the flight and hotel search engine Jetcost.es ranks the capital of the Costa Blanca as the eighth most sought after Spanish city by national tourists to enjoy a holiday stay this July.

According to this report, Alicante is also the second best positioned population in the ranking among the group of cities in the Community, being only surpassed by Benidorm. In fact, Benidorm leads the ranking as the first destination in number of searches, according to Jetcost.es. Later, it would be followed by other large cities that usually draw thousands of visitors for their cultural offer, services or sun and beach such as Madrid, Barcelona, Cádiz, Málaga and Salou.

Alicante would occupy the eighth position ahead of other tourist centers such as A Coruña, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Chiclana de la Frontera, Torremolinos, San Sebastián, Conil de la Frontera or Almería. The city of Valencia, another of the country’s main destinations in the Mediterranean arc, would appear in square number 16, followed by Ibiza, Granada, Huelva or Gijón up to number 20.

However, to find other traditional summer locations such as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it would be necessary to reach position 35, while the three remaining towns in the Region included in the classification, Peñíscola, Calp and Dénia, are in places 32, 43 and 45 respectively.

The truth is that the city has already occupied other relevant positions in other studies carried out by Jetcost.es. Specifically, as this newspaper reported, Alicante was the most sought after among British travelers in order to enjoy a few days of vacation during the month of August, in addition to being the third destination most in demand by the Dutch, the fourth for the Germans and the French , the seventh for the Portuguese and the tenth for the Italians.

These studies would be reflected in the occupancy estimates for the two central months of the summer campaign, in which an occupancy of over 80% is expected in the month of July and close to 90% in the month of August in both hotels and in tourist apartments, waiting for last-minute reservations.
