Alicante, May 5, 2024. ‘Fire and music’, which has been the event’s motto, came together last Saturday in Plaza Séneca when nine sketches of the association Fogueres Especials d’Alacant were presented. The group ‘El Terrós’ participated in the event, which performed various pasodobles from the Festival, and the sketches were presented individually. Nine commissions appear this year in ‘Fogueres Especials d’Alacant’. They are: Baver-Els Antigons, Carolinas Altas, Diputació-Renfe, Florida-Plaza La Viña, Florida-Portazgo, La Cerámica, Polígono San Blas, Sagrada Familia and Séneca-Autobusos. The total budget for the bonfires is 886,000 euros. Florida-Portazgo is the one with the biggest budget, with 110,000 euros. Of all the artists, only one is from Alicante. This is Fran Santonja, who puts in Polígono San Blas. Josep Amand Tomás, president of the association, appreciated the event by saying “we have tried to do a double recognition, on the bonfire for what it represents and the music because that is what fills the streets of Alicante with joy and tradition.” Regarding the artists, he said that they are “the real protagonists of this event because of their participation and their high doses of creativity that surprised us every year with their works, which we protect as a symbol of the Fèise.
Belleas del Foc, Alba Muñoz and Martina Lloret attended the event, together with the president of the Fogueres Federation, David Olivares, and the grand master of the Association of Bonfire and Fallas Artists, Joaquín Rubio.
