The French Embassy in Paraguay together with the French Alliance of Asunción are preparing a series of cultural proposals for this first quarter of the year. This is the summer cycle, which will offer theater, music and cinema, from this Friday 28 to March 31. Likewise, they advanced the future implementation of a virtual cultural agenda and the qualification of a new scholarship that will be aimed at musicians.

The summer cycle will start this weekend, starting on Friday 28, with the first performance of the play 40 degrees of humor La villa, produced by El Ansia ideas y containedes. It is a piece of humor that will also offer dancing and singing. Three Hats and a Wedding, directed and adapted by Andrés Arredondo, is another of the works that can be seen at the Alliance in February.
As has been a tradition for several years, once again in February, the film series with psychoanalysis will take place every Tuesday, produced in conjunction with the Arandú Paraguayan Psychoanalytic Association. On this occasion, the proposal that screens films and then opens the way for debates from a psychoanalysis perspective will present a program made up of films starring French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, who died last year.
Joseph Abado, director of the French Alliance, also announced that it is intended to establish the projection of films every Tuesday of the year.
Music will also have its space in the summer cycle, with the presentation of various recitals. In this sense, the conjunction between jazz funk and other artistic manifestations such as dance can be seen in one of the first concerts to be presented soon.
Schedule. With the intention of expanding the services offered by the national streaming platform jahecha.com.py, enabled in the midst of a pandemic to provide a virtual presence to the different cultural activities at the local level, the start-up of the platform was announced as of February 1, the Jahecha Agenda, which aims to group artistic proposals in one place.
Activities such as projections, exhibitions, fairs, workshops, among others; from areas such as cinema, music, theatre, dance and literature, can be consulted in a special section of the website. Likewise, data related to the event will be made available, such as a brief synopsis, schedules, dates, ticket prices, location and other details regarding the artists and organizers.
Support. Due to the constant support given to art, as in the case of the Henri Matisse award, the French ambassador in Paraguay, Emmanuel Cocher, announced that starting this year a scholarship will be made available for musicians, within the framework of the intention to further internationalize the Paraguayan music. The initiative integrates the possibility of training in institutes of the European country, in addition to financial support of around 3,000 euros.
In view of the difficulties and consequences generated by the pandemic for the cultural community, the French Alliance announced that it will adopt a co-production regime with the different creators who bring their projects closer. This decision will allow, among other things, to exonerate the charge for the use of its facilities, such as the Sala Molière.
