Chicago, IL — Today, Alianza Americas, a network of more than 50 organizations leading and serving migrants of Latin American and Caribbean origin in the United States, launches its “20más” campaign, dedicated to celebrating its twentieth anniversary and highlighting the trajectory of his leadership in defending and promoting the contributions of migrants of Latin American origin both in the US and in their countries of origin.
“Alianza Americas was a brave response to the demonization of immigrant populations in the United States. Together with our member organizations, we have built a network that defends and celebrates the diverse identity that characterizes immigrant communities of Latin American and Caribbean origin. From the beginning, our objectives have focused on putting our membership at the center and promoting a transnational vision; and play a key role in shaping policies that affect Latin American and Caribbean societies, in the US and in our countries of origin,” said Oscar Chacón, executive director and co-founder of Alianza Americas.
Currently, Alianza Americas has more than 50 member organizations in 17 states and Washington, DC. For Guadalupe de la Cruz, president of the Alianza Board of Directors, the twentieth anniversary represents an opportunity to raise the importance of migrant communities organizing and uniting to achieve the well-being of their communities. “This historic moment also marks a point to recognize that the year 2024 offers many challenges for our communities, but Alianza Americas will continue to respond courageously as we have done for 20 years,” said de la Cruz.
