The President of the Republic has just announced during an audience with the Ministers of Water and Forests and the Budget an aid of 4 billion CFA francs to compensate the victims of the Man-Wildlife conflict in Gabon.

According to a press release from the presidency, around 13,000 people will benefit from this Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from aid from the Head of State for the damage caused by elephants. Indeed, President Ali Bongo announced it during the audience granted to Lee White and Edith Ekiri Mounombi wife Oyouomi, respectively Ministers of Water and Forests and Budget.

To benefit from this aid, the victims concerned must go to the treasuries of their respective provinces. During this audience, the Head of State recalled its dual commitment on the one hand“to preserve biodiversity, a wealth both for Gabon and for the planet”, and, on the other hand, “to help the populations victims of the damage caused in particular by the elephants»said the press release from the presidential communication department.

Before adding that:There is a balance to be found. Environment and development are not opposed, quite the contrary. This is what we are working on and we will get there ». It should be noted that the Head of State made this promise to the people last March during his Republican tour in the province of Ogooué-Lolo in the south-east of Gabon.
