CelebritiesRapper Ali B. (40) must appear in court on June 12 and 13 next year as a suspect in two rapes and an assault. The assault is related to the Dutch program ‘The Voice of Holland’, where Ali B. was a jury member. The singer reports that he is “happy” that there is now a date for the case.
It had been known since March that the singer would be prosecuted by the Public Prosecution Service. Today the Public Prosecution Service announced the date on which the case will go to trial: June 12 and 13 at the court in Haarlem.
Ali B. is being prosecuted on suspicion of two rapes, one in August 2018 in Heiloo and one in April 2014 in Morocco. Singer Ellen ten Damme is the victim of the latter suspicion. The rape is said to have taken place during the recording of the TV program ‘Ali B and the Music Caravan’ in Morocco. Ten Damme did report the incident, but did not report it.

The assault is said to have taken place in Amsterdam in May 2018 and was related to ‘The Voice of Holland’. A fourth woman’s complaint against this suspect has now been dismissed. The investigation findings did not show that a criminal offense was committed.
Fuss around ‘The Voice of Holland’
In April 2022, the Ministry of Justice started a criminal investigation against four suspects of sexual offenses surrounding the talent show ‘The Voice Of Holland’. The cases came to light during a broadcast in January 2022 of Tim Hofman’s YouTube program ‘Boos’ about inappropriate behavior surrounding the talent show. Four men came under fire: ex-jurors Ali B. and Marco Borsato, band leader Jeroen Rietbergen and director Martijn N.
At least eight reports were received plus several reports, including rape and sexual assault. Not all reports are ‘Voice’ related, but most came to light due to the fuss about the talent show.
Marco Borsato is prosecuted for fornication with an underage girl. The 56-year-old singer is suspected of having lewdly touched the victim, which is a separate case from TVOH.

Ali B is “happy”
Ali B is “glad that there is finally a hearing date” in the sexual offense case in which he is being prosecuted. This is what his lawyer Bart Swier told the ANP. “Planning the hearing took far too long,” said Swier.
Swier also calls it “highly remarkable” that the Public Prosecution Service of North Holland relates one of the sexual offenses to ‘The Voice’: “Factual nonsense has nothing to do with it,” says Swier. According to Swier, the complainant participated in the talent show in 2013. “The alleged assault occurred five years later, May 2018,” the lawyer said.
