I’m anti Facebook/big tech/whatever

But this “algorithm preference” whining is really, really stupid.
Did you know that the average man (and in many cases women too) simply wants to see more bare skin more often?
I understand that this may be big news for Puritans, but we as humans are programmed for that.

Instagram and other big tech use algorithms that look at what most people like and then you get very human results back in your algorithms.

Yes, and you will also find the ugly sides of people in this, such as preference for race, gender, big and small noses.

Now we can all pretend that everyone is equally attractive, no one finds one race more attractive than another and it’s all about who we are inside etc etc, but at the end of the day we remain human, and so do our algorithms.

Of course this isn’t an excuse per se, there are plenty of people who fall into depression from what they see on Instagram as “normal” like having lots of money and looking like a supermodel. But the algorithms written to give people what they want to blame is really very shortsighted.
