Sánchez sees points of interest in China’s peace proposal
The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, stated this Friday that there are points of interest in China’s initiative to end the Russian war in Ukraine, for what he considers It is important to see her first-hand in the meeting that she will hold next week in Beijing with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping.
In an appearance before the media after the European Council, he insisted that Spain and the European Union have supported the peace plan proposed by the President of Ukraine, Volodímir Zelenskibecause it can guarantee a lasting and just peace.
However, he has added that from there China’s position paper which is not, he has pointed out, a peace plan, has points of interest like what rejects the use of nuclear weapons and makes a call for respect for territorial integritywhich is framed, in his opinion, in respect for the Charter of the United Nations.
Territorial integrity, he continued, which is one of the main claims that right now is being violated by the invasion of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine.
“It is important to learn first-hand what are the meanings behind these points directly from President Xi Jinping,” indicated Sánchez, who recalled that China is a global actor and that “obviously its voice must be heard to see if together we can put an end to the war”.
