Algerian Boxer Khelif Advances to Semi-Finals, Secures Olympic Medal Amid Controversy

In the quarter match in the category up to 66 kg, Khelif defeated the Hungarian Luca Hamori with a score of 5-0. Algeria’s representative reached the semi-finals, which means that she herself has guaranteed at least bronze at the 2024 Olympics.

Earlier, an athlete from Italy, Angela Carini, refused to continue the fight with Khelif in the ⅛ finals.

At the 2023 World Championships, Khelif was disqualified after failing the IBA’s gender verification test. But the International Olympic Committee, which revoked the approval of the IBA, as well as the World Boxing body in 2024, allowed Khelif to participate in women’s competitions, which caused discontent among several competitors, experts and the public.

Another is taking part in the women’s Olympic competition failed sex test athlete – Lin Yuting from Taiwan.
