Algeria, rescuers and citizens work together to put out the fires

In these hours the firefighters, the army and the citizens of the areas around Tizi-Ouzou in Algeria are fighting against the devastating fires that have destroyed hectares of forest in the north of the country. The fires broke out in different areas of the Mediterranean region and within a short interval of time from each other. According to local sources, the toll at the moment is at least 69 dead and dozens injured, with hundreds of people displaced. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune declared three days of national mourning. Algerian authorities have already arrested several arsonists accused of being responsible for this environmental disaster.
