FEDERATION Football Aljazair (FAF) requests FIFA to qualify for the second leg of the third round of Qualification 2022 World Cup African zone is repeated. The application was submitted because the FAF assessed that the Gambian referee who led the match, Bakary Gassama, had made several controversial decisions.
Algeria hosted Cameroon on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in the morning. Riyad Mahrez and friends came with high confidence, remembering the 1-0 win in leg I held at the Cameroon headquarters.
However, in the second match, Cameroon took the lead through Choupo-Moting’s goal in the 22nd minute. However, early in the second half, Algeria had equalized through Islam Slimani.
However, the goal scored by the former Algeria striker was disallowed by the referee for offside. Because there were no additional goals until normal time ended, the match continued to 2×15 minute extra rounds.
In extra time or in the 98th minute, Islam Slimani again tore the nets of Cameroon’s goal. The referee actually approved the goal. However, after being pushed to see VAR, the referee annulled the goal.
In the end Algeria scored the equalizer via Touba’s goal in the 118th minute. Unfortunately at the end of the match, Cameroon scored the winning goal 2-1 via Toko Ekambi’s strike in the 120+4 minute.
