Algeria and the Polisario cause chaos at the UN

Nouria Hafsi caused a shameful scandal last week at the meeting of the fourth committee of United Nations General Assembly (IVth Committee). They want to hold a referendum, which the United Nations has recognized as impossible, showing that they refuse to promise real solutions.

The international community must recognize these tactics for what they are: the last gasps of a reason that has lost its raison d’être and that only serves Algeria’s geopolitical interests. It is time to favor a rational solution that will ensure regional stability and the well-being of all the inhabitants of the Sahara, instead of pursuing an artificial conflict that will only benefit a few.
