One of the world’s most respected films, Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo”, will be played by the Spanish studio Pendulo Studios.
That movies or TV series become games is really not unusual, but that the classic Alfred Hitchcock movie “Vertigo” (or “Study in crime” in Swedish) would be it is not something I had expected.
Namely, it is Spanish Pendulo Studios that is working on a game called “Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo”, which borrows inspiration from the film of the same name from 1958.
The game does not follow the plot of the film, but borrows themes from “Vertigo” and other Hitchcock films. The story revolves around Ed Miller who survives a car crash in California. Although no one else was in the car, he insisted that his wife and daughter travel with him. Traumatized by the incident, he suffers from severe dizziness (vertigo), which takes him to a therapist who will help him reveal what really happened.
The original is about the former police detective John “Scottie” Ferguson (played by James Stewart), who retires early after an incident during work that causes him to have extreme fear of heights and dizziness. Scottie is hired as a private detective to find an acquaintance’s wife, who has started behaving strangely.
With an interesting graphic style and clear inspiration from other story-driven games like “Life is Strange” or Telltale Games “The Walking Dead”, this Hitchcock-inspired adventure can be an interesting game.
“Vertigo” will be released for PC on December 16 and will be available for Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022. The 1958 film is considered one of the world’s best films, so it remains to be seen whether the game will be as good.
Do you think a Hitchock-inspired game can be good?
