Alfons Arts and Michel van Oostrum in the FC Emmen technical staff

FC Emmen adds former players Alfons Arts and Michel van Oostrum to the technical staff for the rest of the season. Arts (58) will work as interim head coach, with Van Oostrum (57) and Marc Hegeman as assistants. The latter was already part of the technical staff of the first team. In addition, team manager Antoine van der Linden will also focus more on the football technical part of the club.

FC Emmen and Arts have expressed the intention that Arts will also play a role at the club after this season. Arts played a total of 213 matches for FC Emmen between 1996 and 2003. He then served as assistant coach at the club until 2007. From 2010 to 2013 he was head coach of Cambuur, in recent years he was an assistant at FC Groningen.

As an assistant coach, Van Oostrum will mainly focus on the strikers of the first selection. He played a total of 339 matches for FC Emmen over different periods between 1990 and 2002, scoring 196 times. This makes him the player with the most games and the most goals for the club. At the end of February, a tile of honor was laid in front of the main entrance of De Oude Meerdijk stadium for the striker, who is also the coordinator of former FC Emmen. He has experience as a trainer at several amateur clubs.

With Arts, Van Oostrum and Hegeman (who played 140 matches for the club), FC Emmen now has three coaches with a rich history at the club. Technical manager Nico Haak: “We think it is extremely important to see the ‘FC Emmen DNA’ within the club and therefore also on the field. With the arrival of Alfons and Michel, we are bringing in experienced men who have a heart for the club.”
