Alfa Romeo is preparing an extremely powerful electric car called the Quadrifoglio. It will reach the 1000 horse mark.

The Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo is finalizing the long-term preparations for the launch of the first fully electric models. The Tonale model will become the flagship in the first half of 2024, which is currently only produced as a plug-in hybrid. And that’s just the beginning!

The company’s CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato, hinted in a recent interview with Australian website CarSales that the model range will feature also a more nimble electric car, which will correspond to the sporty nature of the brand. The legendary four-leaf clover emblem will be removed on the bodywork.

Purely electric models with the Quadrifoglio label they are said to offer performance between 900 to 1000 horsepowerwhich is roughly double the most powerful snake-on-the-hood car (the 540-horsepower Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio) ever to roll off the production line.

The head of the automaker also mentioned that sports models with an electric drive will benefit from new generation batteries with higher efficiency. Thanks to this, engineers will be able to reduce the capacity of accumulators and the total weight of the car will be reduced rapidly.

It is said that the change in battery technology will take place in three-year cycles, so that Alfa Romeo electric cars should maintain a very high level of competitiveness. During the interview, a vague remark was also made about wireless charging, but we have not yet received concrete information.

The talk also came about the cabin space of the upcoming models of the Italian brand – specifically the trend of large screens. Jean-Philippe Imparato said that Alfa is also preparing displays larger than 13 inches, but allegedly they should not cover the entire dashboard. The automaker’s CEO says it would be a major distraction, which is undesirable in a car of this nature.

At the end, the head of the Alfa Romeo brand shared a sales tactic that he would like to prioritize when selling electric cars with the four-leaf clover emblem – test drives. There is nothing easier than putting potential customers behind the wheel and letting them taste the driving experience. The carmaker prefers this method of promotion over the constant emphasis on record times on famous race tracks and repeated 0-100 km/h acceleration figures.
