Alfa Romeo GTV: could be reborn electric

A NEW BEGINNING – L’Alfa Romeo is one of the manufacturers that needs more “attention” from the Stellantis group, of which it has joined, having to date, a range consisting of only two models arrived in the second part of their life cycle. But the leaders of Stellantis believe in it and will invest a lot to give Alfa Romeo a future, under the guidance of Jean-Philippe Imparato, the French CEO who is planning, with his small team of 49 managers, the future of the Biscione (who to know more).

FOR NOW TWO SUVs. AND THEN? – For now there is only one certain models, theAlfa Romeo Tonale, the medium-sized SUV that will arrive in June 2022 also in a hybrid version (who to know more). A second model, still not officially confirmed, should be a second SUV, smaller than the Tonale, known for now as Brennero, which should be built in Poland together with the Fiat and Jeep brand sisters (who to know more). Besides, what other models have been planned? The confidentiality of the top management of Alfa Romeo applies to this, as they have not yet revealed the industrial plan for the next few years. But some rumors are starting to leak.

STILL TO BE DEFINED – It’s the English magazine Coach to launch the hypothesis, supported by some sources, that theAlfa Romeo would be planning an heir to the GTV. At present, the project would still be in the conceptual stages and the hypotheses on the table still many: ranging from the two-door coupe with style inspired by the past to the four-door sedan-coupe similar to the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Just like the aforementioned BMW, the idea would be to create a car available both with hybrid engines and in a fully electric version. The latter should rival the Tesla Model 3 and the BMW i4.

A MYTHICAL NAME – The GTV name was used in the past by the Alfetta GTV between 1974 and 1987 and then by the GTV (code name 916) sold between 1995 and 2004 (replaced by the Brera). In the years preceding the arrival of Imparato, theAlfa Romeo GTV should have been reborn on the basis of the Giulia (in the image above), as indicated in the business plan announced in June 2018 (who the news). The model, however, despite being in an advanced state of development, was canceled by the previous management.
