Exponent of road performance with track soul is launched

Alfa Romeo officially unveiled the new Giulia GTA that evokes the historic original ’65 Turismo Alleggerita ‘from 1965. The return of the legend was announced for 2021 and it now arrives from the top of its 540 horsepower as the “maximum expression of style, mechanics and driving pleasure ”of the brand at present.

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and its most extreme variant (aerodynamically) and with only 2 seats GTAm will have a numbered production of only 500 copies, which already have prices for the Portuguese market: the GTA will cost 215 thousand euros and the GTAm 221 thousand euros.

Derived from the production Giulia Quadrifoglio, the new performance GTA received technical solutions, suspension configuration and dynamic behavior that were developed with Sauber Engineering that works with the Formula 1 team from Alfa Romeo and also participated in the development of the pilots Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazi.

The Quadrifolgio’s all-aluminum Alfa Romeo 2.9 V6 biturbo engine with 510 hp has been (re) developed and calibrated to reach 540 hp. The privileged use of composite materials and carbon fiber provided a weight reduction of 100 kg compared to Quadrifoglio and the new GTA, with the Launch Mode system, announces an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds.

The aerodynamics work focused especially on increasing the downforce and, in GTAm, the new rear spoiler adjustable in four positions and the active front splitter that can be extended up to 40 mm for use on the track stand out. Common to both variants is the Akrapovic exhaust system integrated in the carbon fiber rear diffuser and the 20 ” wheels with a single clamping nut.

The new GTA and GTAm also benefit from a new special air extractor capable of increasing the vehicle’s soil effect by improving the dynamic behavior at high speeds: in the Giulia GTAm, more specifically, the more intense aerodynamic configuration triples the load compared to the Giulia Quadrifoglio and doubles in relation to GTA – the specific preparation of the suspension and steering ensures greater speed in starting and cornering, in addition to optimizing stability on all surfaces, without compromising comfort.

Inside, Alcantara surfaces dominate from upholstery to the dashboard, door panels, glove compartments, side pillars or central carbon fiber seat covers. In the 2-seater GTAm, the interior differs slightly in that it has a roll bar, the rear doors are devoid of panels and the front doors are opened using straps instead of handles – with the same color as Sabelt seat belts of 6 points.

The customization options to remember the 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA are several and can be applied to elements from the colors of the brake calipers to the roll bar or seat belts.
