This year, Alfa Romeo marks 110 years, and one of the gifts for the anniversary was the most powerful and extreme version of the Giulia sedan. The GTA prefix (Gran Turismo Alleggerita), which was used for sports versions of the Giulia coupe in the sixties, was revived especially for her. Those cars were developed by Autodelta’s Alpha racing division, which has long ceased to exist, but emblems of this stable appeared on the back of the latest sedan as a sign of memory.
The modern Alfa Romeo Gulia GTA was created on the basis of the serial top version of the Quadrifoglio with rear-wheel drive, and the main work was carried out in three directions: increasing power, reducing weight and improving aerodynamics. With power, everything is simple: the V6 2.9 biturbo engine is boosted from 510 to 540 hp, and in addition, an eight-speed “automatic” is reconfigured (a mechanical gearbox was taken away from the Quadrifoglio version back in 2018).
To reduce the mass, carbon-ceramic brake discs, openwork 20-inch wheels with a central nut fastening and an Acrapovic straight-through exhaust system with two nozzles in the center of the stern are installed. And from carbon fiber are made the driveshaft, hood, roof panel, front bumper and wheel arches.
As for aerodynamics, the Giulia GTA has an original carbon-fiber plumage developed with the participation of the Sauber Engineering formula bureau: these are inserts with flaps in the front bumper, door sills and a spoiler on the trunk lid. In addition, the GTA version has a 50 mm wide track (even additional trims on the arches are installed on the back), and Alcantara prevails in the trim.

Moreover, prepared even more crazy Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm (from the word Modificata): such a sedan has an enlarged front splitter, a large rear wing and sports front seats with six-point seat belts. Instead of a rear sofa, a semi-safety cage is installed, and the rear windows are replaced with thin polycarbonate panels. All these measures made it possible to immediately throw off 100 kg relative to the original version of Quadrifoglio: the curb weight is 1520 kg. At the same time, even in this form, the sedan has access to public roads.
As a result, Giulia GTAm can accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.6 s (if you use Lauch Control) versus 3.9 s in the Quadrifoglio version. Alas, the developers have not yet given other dynamic characteristics. Recall, the maximum speed of the 510-strong Alpha is 307 km / h.
The total circulation of new versions of GTA and GTAm is 500 copies. In Europe, orders have already been opened for them, prices have not yet been announced, but, according to preliminary information, they will exceed 115 thousand euros. At the same time, two helmets, a cover for long-term storage and a certificate for a track day at the Accademia di Guida company school are included with the machine.
