Alphas always break, right? That does not apply to the wonderful Alfa Romeo Brera. The stylish Italian is an affordable used car today, although there is a downside to it.
The Brera has a distinct design that most car enthusiasts will appreciate. However, there was some disappointment when the model was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005. The interplay of lines was a little less graceful than the concept car that the Italians showed three years earlier.
Engine range from Alfa Romeo Brera
The 4.2-liter V8 that was in the nose of the concept car is also nowhere to be seen in the production model. The Alfa Romeo Brera initially came with a 185 hp 2.2-liter four-cylinder, a 200 hp 2.4-liter five-cylinder diesel engine and a 260 hp 3.2-liter V6. These have all proven to be reliable engines and that has sometimes been different at Alfa Romeo.

The V6 version is four-wheel drive and that entails the necessary weight. And that while the Brera was already a fat one anyway. Even the 2.2-liter four-cylinder, the lightest of the bunch, already weighs 1.5 tons. So not a lightweight.
What occasion do you need?
Moreover, the Alfa Romeo Brera is not the driver’s car you might expect in any of these versions. The obese Italian lacked the sharp steering feel until a few years later an engine was added to the range: the 1.7-liter turbo four-cylinder. A lighter engine, not the extra weight of four-wheel drive and with 200 hp and 320 Nm of torque, it is potent enough to get out of its place quickly. That sounds better.

Now we have good and bad news. The good news is that the Alfa Romeo Brera with its beautiful design is already used as an occasion from around 5,000 euros to tap on the head. The bad news is that these are all versions with the somewhat weak 2.2-liter four-cylinder. For the 1.7-liter turbo engine you will have to put at least 16 mille on the table. There is currently none of the good-sounding, but obese V6 variant for sale on the gaspedal.nl sales site.
