Alfa Romeo Brennero: the name of the B-Suv confirmed

Refuted or not? The short film has a detail of a camouflaged car as its background, probably part of the front wheel arch and the bonnet. As in the previous teaser, also in this case we do not see anything concrete of the long-awaited compact SUV of the Arese brand, the 966 project also known internally as Kid and defined as “Sport Urban Vehicle”. Last summer, speaking about the name of the new SUV, Alfa Romeo declared: “For Alfa Romeo, after Giulia, the car that marked the rebirth of the brand, the brand chose two mountain passes, the Stelvio and the Tonale. Don’t worry, the much-hypothesized ‘Brenner’ has already been denied several times by Alfa Romeo top management. Does this indicate a change of direction in the communication strategy? What will be the next name of the Alfa Romeo Sport Urban Vehicle? Have your say on the brand’s official social channels”. Rereading those words, one might think that all this could just be a strategy to say the name without however officially confirming it: the name has in fact been denied, but the question about the change in the marketing strategy communication could allude to a rethink.

Hybrid or electric. The debut of the new Alfa Romeo Brennero is expected in the first months of next year: it will be around 4.20 meters long, a handful of centimeters more than its sister Fiat 600. On the other hand, the two cars (as well as the Jeep Avenger) will share the Stla Small platform (the former Cmp) and with it also the engines. Under the bonnet of the B-SUV there will most likely be the 100 horsepower 1.2 turbo petrol hybrid (electrified via a 29 HP current unit mounted inside the dual clutch automatic transmission and a belt-driven generator/starter), which could be also offered in the more powerful 136 HP version already seen on some French cousins. The Brennero, however, will also be the first electric Alfa Romeo and will feature the same 156 HP powertrain with 54 kWh battery already seen on the 600e and Avenger, for a WLTP range of close to 400 kilometres. Prices? Just over 25 thousand euros for the hybrid and around 40 thousand for the electric.
