The Aley Judiciary Authority of the “Free Patriotic Movement” issued a statement denouncing the assault that MP Cesar Abi Khalil was subjected to during his participation in the solidarity stand on the 4th of August in front of the Beirut port, today, Friday.
In its statement, the commission said, “Khalil participated in the stand, representing the Free Patriotic Movement, after an invitation was sent by the families of the port’s victims.” It added, “The participation came to demand justice for the victims, three years after the largest disaster in Lebanon’s history.”
She pointed out that “Abi Khalil confirmed that the families of the victims were more than welcome to his presence in this activity, and when some voices of dissonance arose, the families of the victims silenced them.”
According to the statement, when Abi Khalil left the stand, a group of people deliberately directed rude words to him, and they were confronted by the families of the victims as well, and he added: “Khalil confirmed that all the indecency we are exposed to has no value in the face of the horror of this tragedy.” And the souls of the martyrs and the victims, and we will continue to demand a transparent investigation and the realization of the truth that does not die and behind which there are demands.”
The statement concluded: “The Aley Judiciary in the Free Patriotic Movement denounces what MP Cesar Abi Khalil was exposed to, and affirms that all bad practices against the movement and its deputies will not deter us from always demanding justice for the victims.”
