The question of accuracy, challenges and perspectives of the Greek economy are at the center of the discussion at the conference held by the Alexis Tsipras Institute for Peace, Justice and Sustainable Development, today Tuesday afternoon, 22-10-2024, at Municipal Theater of Piraeus.
The axes of the Tsipras intervention
According to information, the intervention of the former prime minister is expected to move around the axes related to the current state of the economy and, in particular, on whether there is convergence or a gap forming with Europe, on what are the effects on the standard of living of the social majority, especially the most vulnerable and how Greece can overcome the current situation, recover lost ground and restore development with justice.
According to associates of Mr. Tsipras, his intervention will move along these lines in an approach that, as they said, will light the way for another, completely different perception and policy from the one that prevails today and for another, strategic role of the state, in place of the current, “allegedly staff”, state.
The same sources state that the discussion will focus not only on the big picture of the economy, which, as they comment, is once again driven to a wall by the Mitsotakis government’s choices, but also on the daily impact of these choices on the lives of citizens.
KEPE research
THE George Ioannidis will present a KEPE research on “Estimation of the Consumer Price Index for households based on their income”. At the same time, Mr Stratos Fanaras and the Giannis Balapanidis will present her research Metron Αnalysis on “Accuracy and Cost of Life”.

Four former ministers for the economy
In addition, 4 ministers from three different government periods (Government of Tsipras, Papandreou, Simitis) will give their opinion on the current situation, but also where we should go. Intervene, in particular, the Nikos Christodoulakis, Louka Katseli, Yannis Dragasakis and George Chouliarakis.
Intervention by Lucie Castets

The debate is organized at a time when, as associates of the former prime minister report, the consecutive crises, but mainly the accuracy crisis, have serious negative consequences on Greek society. They add that “the carelessness in the labor market, the dismantling of public social protection structures, such as the National Social Security System, corruption, cast their shadow on the daily life of the majority”. They comment that the rationale for organizing the event is about shaping our common future, as is the Institute’s logo: “Shaping our common future”.
