In the summer of 2021, the small town of Shakopee in Minnesota was rocked by the brutal murder of 56-year-old America Thayer. Now her boyfriend Alexis Saborit (44) has been convicted of the murder.
The details of the murder are gruesome reading.
It all happened in Saborit’s car at a crossroads in the city. Saborit first hit Thayer repeatedly with a 3.5-kilogram manual, before he then decapitated her with a machete inside the car, according to the local newspaper. Star Tribune.

People in other cars and nearby residents witnessed the horrific attack. One of them also took a video that appeared to show Saborit pulling Thayer’s body out of the car and then lifting her head by the hair, writes the AP news agency.
Saborit ran from the scene, but was apprehended by the police around two kilometers away.
In his statement to the police, Saborit said that he acted in self-defense and that Thayer had tried to kill him.
– The only thing she kept saying to me was that she wanted to get rid of me. I was really angry at that moment, he allegedly told the police.
However, the judge in the case, Caroline Lennon, wrote in the judgment that the court found it deliberate beyond any reasonable doubt that the defendant acted with premeditation.
District Attorney Ron Hocevar said he was pleased with the verdict and expects Saborit to be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
– My mother never deserved this in the first place. This monster deserves to be imprisoned for life, his son Charles Thayer said a few hours after the verdict.
