For nine months, Swiss and fourth European champion Alexia Paganini has been part of it. In May 2020, the American-Swiss national double still lived in New York. Twenty years ago, her parents (her father is a native of Brusio, in Val Poschiavo (GR), her mother of Dutch origin) emigrated to the United States, where Alexia was born and raised. When New York had to be completely confined, Alexia asked the Swiss federation if they could sign up for a training camp. These days, the best skaters have the opportunity to train in Valais under the aegis of Stéphane Lambiel, national coach. The 18-year-old did not hesitate for long: she packed her bags, packed her skates, her tracksuits, a few summer clothes and she took the plane. “Anyway, I’ll be home soon. Or my parents will come and find me, ”she said to herself.
