“We have found Alexei Navalny. He is now in the Harpa settlement of IK-3 in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region. His lawyer visited him today. Alexei is doing well,” Jarmisha announced.
Navalny’s lawyers have been barred from seeing him since December 6. Navalny’s team found that he was transferred from a prison near Moscow to another detention facility on December 11, but where exactly was not known until now.
Navalny was detained in January 2021 while returning from Germany, where he was receiving treatment after a poisoning attempt by Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) agents.
In February of the same year, Navalny was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for allegedly violating the terms of his suspended prison sentence in 2014 while undergoing treatment in Germany. In March of the following year, he was sentenced to another nine years in prison for “fraud” and “contempt of court”, and in August 2023 – to 19 years in prison for “extremism”.
