The leader of the Russian opposition, Alexei Navalny, who was in prison, died at the age of 47. His death was announced by the prison authorities.

“On February 16 of this year, the convict Navalny felt unwell after a walk, almost immediately lost consciousness. Medics from the facility arrived immediately and an emergency medical team was called in.” the statement said.
Navalny, 47, a former lawyer, rose to prominence more than 10 years ago by satirizing President Vladimir Putin’s elite and making accusations of widespread corruption.
Imprisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny was placed in solitary confinement for 10 days in an Arctic prison for failing to properly state his name to a guard.
