In complaints against the kindergarten in Alexandroupoli, where the teacher locked the children in a dark room and tied them up to make them wiser, their parents came forward. The reason was what the 3- and 4-year-old children said about the horrors they experienced at their school.
The mayor ordered a Sworn Administrative Examination, while both employees were removed from the school.
“She shows me that she puts them in the chairs and pulls a whistle out of her neck to tie their little hands,” said the child’s mother, noting that her daughter talked about punishment in a dark room.
The play of a 3-year-old girl who locked her doll in a warehouse, but also the strange and disturbing behavior of several children in the same class, was the beginning to start an investigation. The teacher allegedly admitted that she was putting the children in the specific area, referring to it as a “decompression room”.
A mother complained according to ERT: “My child for three months, while he is a child who is not afraid, he was waking up in his sleep, saying I don’t want to go to school, don’t take me to school, turn on the light, hug me, the afternoons when it started to get dark and he would say I want the sun to come out. The teacher said that, okay, this is done to calm the children and it doesn’t keep them in for long, two to three minutes.”
They were removed from all workplaces
The mayor of Alexandroupolis, Yiannis Zamboukis, stated that the two were removed not only from the specific daycare center, but in general from the work areas of the daycare centers of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis until the disciplinary process is completed.
The school section has been closed and the young children, most of whom are 3 years old, have been temporarily distributed to other sections of the daycare center.
