Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – Attack of a colleague:

NEW YORK (Dagbladet): The Greens from Georgia have only been in Congress for a few months, but have already been highly controversial for their ties to both right-wing extremists and the QAnon conspiracy movement. As early as February, she was removed from all her committee duties.

Since she was elected, she has also had several confrontations with her democratic colleagues. On Wednesday, the young Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) from New York was attacked just outside the hall of the House of Representatives.

– Supports terrorists

As the AOC left the hall just in front of Greene, Green shouted “Hi Alexandria!” twice, according to Washington Post. When Greene then took back the AOC, she started shouting to the AOC about why she supports left-wing radical antifa and Black Lives Matter. Greene also mistakenly referred to both antifa and Black Lives Matter as “terrorist groups”. She also shouted that the AOC failed to defend its “radical socialist” views by not meeting Greene for debate.

– You do not care about the American people. Why do you support terrorists? and antifa? Greene shouted, according to the newspaper.

The AOC did not stop to answer Greene. She turned around only once and struck out with her arms.

– She’s a coward. She does not want to debate. These members are cowards. They must defend their legislation to the people. This is pathetic, Greene told reporters afterwards, according to CNN.

– Argument

Greene’s aggressive behavior causes the AOC to react and ask for better security in Congress.

Representative Greene tried to start an argument with congressional representative Ocasio-Cortez, and when Ocasio-Cortez tried to walk away, Greene started screaming and calling Ocasio-Cortez a terrorist sympathizer. We hope the leadership and Sergeant of Arms will take some real steps to make Congress safe and civilized for all members and staff – especially as many offices are discussing reopening. A congressman has already been forced to change offices due to Greene’s attack, AOC spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said in a statement.

The Democratic Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, is also reacting strongly to Greene’s behavior and wants an investigation.

– What happened when the members left the hall was reported to us. The verbal abuse and mistreatment of our colleague, Congressman AOC, is so far from acceptable behavior that you begin to cheat. It is probably a matter for the ethics committee, but it is up to them, Pelosi said at a press conference.

– Supports right-wing extremists

The AOC was asked about the incident later Thursday. Then she said that Greene’s behavior was reminiscent of people she used to throw out “all the time” when she worked as a bartender before she became a politician.

– For me, it’s not even about how I feel. I refuse to let young women, people with minority backgrounds, people who stand up for what they believe in, see this kind of attempt at threats in Congress from a person who supports right-wing extremists, says AOC, according to CNN.

Greene herself denies that she shouted at the AOC.

– AOC, you never threw anyone out of a bar. You’re too scared to talk to anyone. You are too weak and afraid to debate me about your own socialist policies, which would throw your own voters into poverty. The only thing you can do is hide and play the victim, Greene writes Twitter Thursday evening.

Would execute Democrats

As early as the beginning of February, the House of Representatives voted and removed Greene from all committee positions after her earlier extreme statements came to light. Among other things, she expressed that she wanted to execute prominent Democrats. 230 congressmen, against 199, voted to oust Greene from the committee. Eleven Republicans voted with the Democrats.

Greene has also had several confrontations with other Democratic politicians in Congress. Democrat Cori Bush called for a change to an office further away from Greene after a heated argument with Greene in January.

Greene also got into trouble after putting up an anti-trans sign outside the office of Democrat Marie Newman. Newman has a daughter who is transgender.
