Alexandre Veillette double winner of the Dollard-Morin Prize

It is with pride that the Mauricie Regional Leisure and Sport Unit (URLSM) awarded the Dollard-Morin Leisure and Sport Volunteer Award, Jean-Marc Paradis, to Alexandre Veillette for his commitment to young people. He is also the provincial laureate of the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur for the Dollard-Morin prize for succession and sport.

Alexandre generously transmits his rugby knowledge. Elite level athlete, he had to go into exile to perform. He gives back to his original club, the Braves de Trois-Rivières. Developer, he set up junior programs to, in 2017, deploy the Académie de la Mauricie which made it possible to highlight the rich athletic potential in rugby and thus influence the Cégep de Trois-Rivières to create a women’s team in 2020.

His qualities as a coach are recognized by his peers and he is known as the one who offers his expertise to his colleagues. Its structuring actions make it possible to increase the number of rugby players in Mauricie. For her extraordinary involvement, the URLSM presented her with a custom-made canvas by the artist Marguerite Boivin.

Alexandre Veillette was awarded the title “Relève provinciale sport” among all the regional candidates. He received a trophy, a pin, a certificate of recognition as well as a word from the Minister for Education and responsible for the Status of Women, Isabelle Charest.
