Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste (20), the eldest son of Prince Albert of Monaco, is excited to work with his father in the future. “I have the ambition to become a global ambassador for Monaco,” says the monarch’s illegitimate child.
Grimaldi-Coste says in his first interview that he mainly sees business opportunities. “I also discussed this with my father,” he says in the magazine Tatler.
The twenty-year-old was born in 2003 from a relationship between Albert and a then flight attendant, Nicole Coste (left in the photo). She announced the child’s existence a few years later through the magazine Paris Match.
Albert then acknowledged that Grimaldi-Coste is indeed his son. The prince also has an older illegitimate daughter: the now 31-year-old Jazmin Grace. Both are ineligible for succession to the throne.
The fact that his father is the Monegasque monarch has not bothered Grimaldi-Coste so far. “That was also easy because I wasn’t in the public eye too much. It didn’t affect me that much,” he says. “Now it’s getting more interesting because I’m more in the public eye and I want to show my face more.”

‘I think I will live up to my name’
Grimaldi-Coste will now first complete his studies and then work with charities. With this he wants to “try to have an impact on those who are less privileged than me”, he says about his future plans. “And also working on a relationship with Monaco and with my father. I have a good plan, so I am very happy with that.”
He doesn’t feel much pressure about that. “I guess I just have to do my job and honor my heritage and my family in a respectful way. But I consider myself respectful and kind, so I think I’ll live up to my name.”
Prince Albert still has good contact with his mother, Nicole Coste. He gave her a house on the French Riviera and she received generous alimony.
The fashion designer has occasionally spoken out about her ex, but also about his current wife Charlene. For example, she said that the princess’s health problems are “karma”. “I really don’t care if she’s doing badly.”
