You were numerous this Wednesday evening to question Alexandre, aka Mich, behind the scenes of the show. Pastry, candidates, personal life, the questions were varied and the answers guaranteed without language.

Internet users: “Alexandre, did you think you would go so far in the show”

Alexandre: my goal was first not to be eliminated first, we can say that it’s done. After that, each week spent in the tent is happiness, I make the most of it and I savor each week as if it were the last!

“We have noticed a strong evolution since the start of the competition. How do you manage to improve so quickly?”

We don’t see everything on television either, the jury really gives us a lot of advice that allows us to improve very quickly. You have to know how to accept criticism, question yourself and immerse yourself in everything we are taught.

“Have you been able to observe a clear change in your level between the cakes you made before the competition and those you make now?”

Before, I really stayed in montages with classic structures and tastes… Thanks to the program, I now manage to bake cakes with more modern and original preparations. My relatives can testify!

“Mercotte sometimes looks harsh on screen, she should be nicer”

Mercotte has his own opinion, I can’t judge this. She seems tough at times but she is adorable, really very kind and a pedagogue. You should know that there is also a difference between what we see on TV and what is really happening. She’s a very nice person with whom we were often able to take the time to chat, I really have no problem with her!

“What is your favorite baking technique?”

I loved doing the LP technique, poaching in motion with the cake placed on a record player. I tried my home a few times again, finally got there and now I love it.

“What would you say to those who criticize the Belgian cliché that you embody”

Being the only Belgian in the competition was an honor, but it also puts additional pressure. Those who find that the cliché that I embody is too good, too bad for them! I tried to represent Belgium as much as possible by remaining as I am, sincere and authentic.

“There is a fan club of female supporters behind you. Does that flatter you?”

I can not say that it does not make me happy, it is very pleasant! The fact that I’m single is often highlighted on the show so maybe that’s why, in any case it’s nice.

“You deserved the apron instead of Aya!”

I have never had the blue apron but I have never risked leaving or been in danger so that’s really what I remember, and especially the fact of being always present in week ten! Aya is very talented and I am delighted for her, there is not really any competition between us, the competition is against yourself and so much the better for those who stand out!

Alexandre, the only Belgian candidate for this tenth edition of the Best Pastry Chef, is one of the five candidates still in the running. How far will he go in the contest? “I still have some nice surprises in store for you,” promises the amateur pastry chef.
