The number 4 in the world, Zverev, had some problems to deal with off the pitch last month when his ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova made further allegations of domestic violence against the German tennis star.
This week, the ATP launched an investigation against Zverev over allegations of domestic violence. Massimo Calvelli, ATP CEO, said, “As an organization, we recognize the need to do more to ensure that everyone involved in professional tennis feels safe and secure.
The recommendations of the Safeguarding Report will help us tackle this in a solid manner. We are anxious to take significant steps forward and know that this will not be an overnight process. ”The ATP felt it was“ responsible ”to initiate an investigation against Zverev.
“The allegations against Alexander Zverev are grave and we have a responsibility to fight them,” added Calvelli. “We hope that our investigation will enable us to establish the facts and determine appropriate follow-up action.
“We understand that Zverev welcomes our investigation and acknowledges that he has denied all allegations. We will also monitor further legal developments after Zverev’s preliminary injunction in the German courts.”
Zverev all good with ATP examination
“I have always been fully committed to the creation of an ATP policy on domestic violence. I also welcome the ATP investigation into this matter and have been calling on the ATP to initiate an independent investigation for months, “Zverev said in a statement.
“As mentioned earlier, I categorically and unequivocally deny each of these allegations. We have obtained an injunction against the editor and journalist on false allegations that the allegations are defamatory and false.
Nevertheless, both the editor and the journalist deliberately violate this court order by failing to report and repeatedly spreading the allegations on social media. My lawyers have started further proceedings. ”
