The German Alexander Zverev recovered this Sunday against the Belgian David Goffin, whom he beat in three sets, 5-7, 6-3 and 6-4, in the second round of the Masters 1,000 in Rome.
‘Shascha’ debuted on the Italian clay with a hard-fought victory against a Goffin who did not make things easy.
In the first set, the Belgian prevailed in the irregularity of the services and broke his rival four times, one more than the serves he gave up. And that Zverev enjoyed two set balls that he failed to specify, which gave the Belgian wings.

Already in the second set, after giving up serve once again, Zverev carbureted and signed four games in a row to extend the match to a third set in which equality reigned, but in which ‘Shascha’ delivered the key blow in the tenth game, breaking Goffin and sealing his bye to the third round.
The American Jeffrey Wolf will be the German’s next opponent in the third round.
