The Independence Day reception at the Presidential Palace, i.e. the Castle Party, is one of the most anticipated events of the year.
This year, the party will be hosted for the first time by Alexander Stubb, who started as the President of the Republic on March 1, together with his wife Suzanne Innes-Stubb.
Parties always look like their hosts to some extent, especially for the guests. Not much is known about this year’s guests or the exact content of the party at this stage.
The office of the President of the Republic tells Iltalehti that the preparations have started and more details about the celebrations will be announced later in the fall.

In the 2020s, parties have seen radical changes. The reason has not been the former presidential couple Sauli Niinistö and Jenni Haukion views, but due to the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic, traditional celebrations with handshakes were not seen at all.

In 2022, it was almost back to normal when distinguished guests were invited to Linna celebrations and traditional handshakes were also seen for a long time. At that time, a new element at the party was the so-called hand sanitizer men, who regularly sprayed hand sanitizer into the palms of the presidential couple.
