The announcement of his transfer to McLaren from 2023 seems to have done him a lot of good. After his 2nd place at the Detroit Grand Prix seven days ago, Alexander Rossi (Andretti) distinguished himself on the side of Road America. Building on his previous outings, the Auburn native dominated the Fast 6 (last part of qualifying).
With a lap of 1’44″866, Alexander Rossi was ahead of Josef Newgarden (Penske) by less than a tenth (1’44″937). Last member of the Top 3 at Road America, Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing) fell behind the leading duo with a time of 1’45″382 ahead of Marcus Ericsson (Chip Ganassi Racing), Colton Herta (Andretti) and Pato O’Ward (McLaren).
Among the French, Romain Grosjean (Andretti) can harbor regrets. The Habs narrowly missed the move to Fast 6 by grabbing 7th place in the first part of qualifying. Simon Pagenaud (Meyer Shank Racing) is 11th.
