Washington’s Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin did not take the ice in the NHL regular season match with Anaheim.

The 38-year-old Russian missed the capital’s last two NHL games due to a lower body injury. On January 13, Ovechkin did not play against the Rangers (3:2); on January 14, the forward missed another meeting against the club from New York (1:2). Despite the fact that Ovechkin trained before the home match with the Ducks, he was not included in the squad for the game. The Russian forward misses the Capitals’ third match in a row.

The Washington captain played 39 regular-season matches this season, scored eight goals and gave 19 assists.

Ovechkin ranks second on the league’s all-time scoring list with 830 goals, 64 behind Canada’s Wayne Gretzky (894).
