Alexander Isak’s fine form continues in the English Premier League.
The Newcastle striker got on the scoresheet again as the team beat Brentford 2-1 away from home.
– It was an important goal, says Isak in Viaplay.
The home side took the lead in the first half through Ivan Tony via penalty – which Isak had caused.
But in the second half, the Swedish national team would take revenge
Newcastle equalized first through Joelinton and seven minutes later Isak scored the lead goal. Callum Wilson played the 23-year-old who was just outside the penalty area. The Swede took a gamble and coolly placed the ball in the far corner to make it 2–1. It was Isak’s seventh goal in the Premier League this season.
– That was unbelievable. A tough match and a tough arena to get to. Brentford hadn’t lost at home for a long time and we really had to fight. The first half was not good enough from us and we knew it, says Isak in Viaplay and continues:
– It was an important goal. I felt before that I had not entered the game and lost a lot of ball. It was a good pass and a good finish.
Newcastle then held off and took three leaden points in the hunt for a Champions League place.
For Brentford, it was the second straight loss – and in addition, team captain Pontus Jansson was injured after just one quarter.
