For Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler, the first round of the ATP 250 doubles competition in Winston Salem is the end of the line.
In the last preparatory tournament before the US Open, the top Austrian duo was clearly beaten by the number three seeded duo Hugo Nys/Jan Zielinski from Poland 2:6, 4:6.
The change to hard court starts with a defeat for Erler/Miedler. Most recently, the ÖTV duo won the clay court doubles competition in Kitzbühel.
The next stop is the US Open. So far, Erler/Miedler have not made it past the second round of a Grand Slam tournament.
