NEW YORK. Alex Wennberg seems to have done his thing in Seattle.

He was held out of last night’s road game against Calgary — for “three-way-related reasons,” as coach Dave Hakstol put it.

Possible new club address: New York Rangers.

The clock is ticking inexorably toward Friday’s deadline, and NHL general managers are working at full speed to complete the necessary trades before it’s too late.

Ron Francis in Seattle, for example, appears to be poised to trade away Swedish center Alex Wennberg.

He was poked out of the squad in last night’s away game against Calgary, but not because he was bad.

– It is for trejd-related reasons, coach Dave Hakstol announced before the drop.

Shortly said:

The 29-year-old from Stockholm will soon play for another club.

The question is which one.

Rangers interested

The New York Rangers, who need a new third baseman as Czech Filip Chytil misses the rest of the season with a concussion, are said to be very keen on “Wenny’s” services, but the Colorado Avalanche and Boston Bruins are also said to be interested.

Wennberg is in his tenth NHL season. He began his career with six years in Columbus. Then he did one season in Florida before ending up in Seattle in the summer of 2021 in connection with the expansion draft.

This year he has scored nine goals and played up to another 16 in 60 games.

The four-point battle against the Flames was won by the Kraken 4-2 – despite Alex’s absence. Adam Larsson – another Swede in Seattle who has been the subject of some treachery rumors – scored one of the goals, while Rasmus Andersson responded with an assist for the home team.
