Alex Belzile changes address. The native of Saint-Éloi has reached an agreement with the New York Rangers organization, this Saturday, July 1, as part of the National Hockey League free agent market.
Without a contract for the next campaign, Belzile could well assess where he wanted to pursue his career. He finally chose the Big Apple, signing a two-year contract – one of which is one-way – with the Rangers.
In recent months, he had made no secret of his desire to find a one-way contract in the NHL.
Last season, Alex Belzile proved he could help a National League team. In addition to his leadership qualities and hard work, the athlete scored 14 points, including 6 goals, in 31 games.
His first career goal in the NHL will also have been achieved in the uniform of the Canadiens, on February 12, at the Bell Centre.
In the American Hockey League, he was also captain of the Laval Rocket.
