Ålesund: Three new cases of infection on Monday – rbnett.no

This is stated by the municipality in a press release.

– A new case of infection has been confirmed related to the outbreak at Blindheim ungdomsskole. The person in question was already in quarantine and the family in quarantine. It has so far been proven that three pupils at Blindheim ungdomsskole have been infected. Two people in the family, who were already in quarantine, have been diagnosed with coronavirus. There are no new close contacts, Ålesund municipality states.

Former employees on Monday reported the municipality three new cases of infection after samples taken on Sunday.

– The mutated virus spreads easily, and it is difficult to prevent more people in a family from transmitting the infection, says municipal chief physician Olav Mestad.

Test record

Ålesund municipality reported a large number of cases of infection on Friday 26 March. This, together with outbreaks in the neighboring municipalities of Fjord and Giske, gave cause for concern, the press release states. The test station has set a record and has tested over 3,000 people in one week.

– What is worrying is that we discover a number of cases of infection without a known source of infection and that cases of infection appear here and there. It is very important that everyone who has symptoms, even vague symptoms, stay home and ask for a test, says municipal chief physician Olav Mestad.

Ask people to stay calm at Easter

The infection situation means that Ålesund municipality encourages all residents to limit travel activity

– When it is now Easter, a benefit should be to be as calm as possible and use nature for training and recreation. Only have two guests at home. If you are single, keep in touch with a couple of close friends. Make necessary purchases locally. If you have to visit a shopping center, for example, due to necessary errands, we recommend that you plan your purchases well, keep your distance and wear a face mask, says municipal chief physician Olav Mestad.
