“Mr. & Mrs. Engels,” wrote Sarah Lombardi on Sunday about two photos that show the bride and groom very closely together. With these snapshots, the 28-year-old confirmed the wedding with her friend Julian Büscher. 17 months after they became a couple, they have now sealed their love by saying yes.

A few hours after posting on Instagram, Sarah personally speaks to her 1.6 million followers. “It’s true: we got married and we’re really happy. Somehow we can’t believe it yet.”

The singer continues: “This day was so incredibly beautiful. We celebrated with the closest family members. That was exactly what was so special and so magical. It just couldn’t have been more beautiful. It was just perfect.”

“I’ve taken my maiden name again”

Many fans were irritated that Sarah wrote “Mr. & Mrs. Engels” in the caption. Most of her followers assumed she would take her husband’s name. But instead both are now called Engels. “I have taken my maiden name again,” says the musician.

It all started back then as “Sarah Engels” and that is what she will be called again in the future. “Although I was advised against it in part because most people simply know me by the name Sarah Lombardi, I believe that now is the right time to write a new chapter.”

She is proud to have taken this step now. She also thinks it is very important that “women are independent, strong and independent”. “I always try to be a strong woman myself, I don’t always succeed, but I try.”

Alessio is now called Lombardi-Engels

Sarah Lombardi no longer bears the name of her ex-husband. However, their son Alessio comes from their marriage to Pietro. Will his name be different from his mom now? No.

“Alessio will have a double surname and will be called Lombardi-Engels,” she explains to her fans. “Pietro and I sat down together and both found it to be the best solution.” So the five-year-old has a connection to both parents. “That was very important to me.”
